Tomopop Review: Weta's Righteous Bison Indivisible Particle Smasher
by Pedro Cortes on 11/19/2009 6 comments

Weta Workshop is famous for their ability to design props and costumes and make the impossible real. Take all the work they did for the Lord of the Rings trilogy and you'll see what I mean. What a lot of people don't know is that they also create prop weapons that can be ordered off of their website, such as their line of Victorian weapons designed by the brilliant Dr. Gordbort.  Latest in that line is the Righteous Bison, the Indivisible Particle Smasher that will lay waste to any that cross your path and, if they are particularly unlucky, become part of your path.

Follow me after the jump to get a peak at the Bison as well as see it on it's first adventure.

Allow me to present the Righteous Bison.

The piece itself is made of heavy-weight plastic, so it is light and strong. The only movible piece on the pistol is the trigger, so you don't have to worry about mobile parts that can come undone, though you may notice the multitude of details all over the gun.

Here you see the pipes that adorn the side of the gun. The pipes are mirrored on the other side, which seems to me like they used a base mold for both halfs and put them together. While the seems a bit cheap, the paint job is different on both sides and weathered to look old, so this isn't just some cheap toy. In fact, considering the amounts of nicks and dings on the pistol it may be treated uniquely for every one that hops off line.

But enough about that. Let me tell you a story inhabited by some mean gents and vengeful fems. It begins with a dastardly theft, perpetrated by the one and only Smirky Whipcord.

Smirky has gotten away with the Righteous Bison by duplicitous means, for what ends we may never know. Confident with his escape, he smiles to himself and thinks, "Victory is mine this time! No one can stop my plans expect for..."

"...HER!"

Smirky looked up to find his archnemisis, Audry O'Neal!

"The gig is up Smriky.  Hand over the Bison and I'll let you walk."

"Never O'Neal!  The Bison is mine mine mine! You can take it..."

"...when you catch me!"

The dog, running away from a fight! However, this isn't the first time that Audry has had to catch a perp and lucky for her, Smirky let a little something behind.

With Smirky's cane in hand, Audry begins the chase.

After a helluva chase, Audry closes the gap and delivers a mighty blow!

"Take this!"

"UNNF!"

An earth-shattering blow delivered, the Bison is launched from Smirky's slimy fingers. However, SCIENCE works its magic and when the Bison lands, suddenly...

There are two of them!  Presented with this situation, our combatants reach for their weapons.

Audry aims...

...and Smirky aims...

...so what happens?  Stay tuned to Tomopop for the further adventures of Smirky Whipcord and Audry O'Neal!

Can't wait to see the end? Then you can recreate your own adventures over at Weta's site, where you can order the Righteous Bison now!
