Marion Tanguy, a.k.a. Tan-Ki, isn't a name that's perhaps too familiar, but his toy creations are indeed pretty cool. To help raise awareness of the art toy scene in his hometown of Brest, France, he's put together an exhibition called "Invasion Toyz" to show off not only his work, but the work of some other big-name vinyl artists.
Along with a new series of DIY Kitoys, there will be an introduction of the very first 8" Crystal KiClear, an exhibition of designer toys customized by Tan-Ki and an exhibition of toys pictures and paintings. There will also be an exhibition of customized Kitoy by Plaseebo, Lemerde, Bunka, Fakir, CartOne, Codel, Tizieu, Doudoupop, Jeremiah Ketner, Triclops Studio, Grapheart, Bishop Parigo, Skwak, Flying Fortress, Steph Cop, Hello Brute, Paul Kaiju, Phuek and Spasm One. Sounds like there will be a ton of stuff to do there!
The show takes place at Slow Boutique in Brest (4 Rue Ducouedic) from December 12 till January 2, 2010. Sadly,I won't be able to make it, I think, considering it's all the way in France, but as I always say, if you can make it, go! I'm certainly hoping it'll be a successful show, too, and accomplish Toy-Ki's goal of raising awareness.
