It's a well known fact that I'm obsessive for all things Disney, but what's not quite as well known is that I'm an absolute nut for the classic cartoons. I just adore the black and white shows, but one that I'll always cling to is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. For those who don't know - Oswald was Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks' major character creation that was quite popular, but he then got taken away and was eventually what led them to create Mickey Mouse (to make a long story short).
Now that Oswald is back in the possession of the Walt Disney company it's great to see him emerging into the spotlight once again with some figures and merchandise. Not to mention that he's soon to be a major part in the video game Epic Mickey.
Hit the jump to see how he struts his stuff in this figurine that I just adore!
You know you're in for a good day if the figure you're excited about already makes you fall in love with it from inside the box. The box just makes me absolutely giddy, especially as an artist since there are sketches all over it showing Oswald doing all sorts of poses.

Even inside the lid of the box there are even more sketches. I love seeing simple sketches of characters, especially if they're only to look like work in progress shots because it can really help you learn what shapes make up the character, as well as get a feel for how you can draw him yourself should you get the urge.

Once you get Oswald out of the box he has a golden foam pillow semi-attached to him. All you have to do is peel the small amount of tape off of it and he's good to go. It may seem like very simple packaging, but this figure is over 2 years old, and just recently got shipped to me and he was in great condition!

As you can see he's pretty big in size, and measures in around 8 1/2 inches tall or so. He's also quite hefty weight-wise as well, so since I've decided to turn my kitchen into a Disney paradise he's now sitting on top of my refrigerator instead of my normal toy shelves.

Sadly the paint is a little sloppy in places, but you don't really notice it as much if you're not right up in his face. But even so, how could you say no to that little face, he's so cute! Also, paintbrush for the win!
Not only does he have an awesome paintbrush, he also has an awesome paint CAN. I'm honestly not sure why these things make me so happy, but they do. Yay for creativity!

Then again.. Oswald is rather ornery so you never really know what it is he's going to paint. No little Oswald! You have too cute of a little fluffy tail to turn to graffiti! Be a good little rabbit and paint a custom toy or something instead - lord knows I have plenty in the works he could finish for me!

I'm pretty sure he's out to get anything that looks like Mickey Mouse as well since he decided he was the King of Disney World when he started standing on my Vinylmation Tins and proclaiming it to all of my other toy friends in my room.
It looks like he found himself at home when he came across a scene from Trolley Troubles that happened to be playing. It's amusing to me to see how his character design has changed over the years, as it is with a lot of the Disney characters.

At this point he finally met the Mouse himself and decided he was going to paint all over him and ruin him once and for all, but I got a hold of Oswald before he could do so and put him in time out. Since he's out thinking about what he's done, here's how you can get an ornery little Oswald for your own: eBay.
Unless you somehow get insanely lucky and find one elsewhere, such as a Disney Store, then eBay will be your best bet. He's been out since 2007, so I picked mine up from there and even got lucky enough that I paid far less than the retail price of $34.50 for it. So what are you waiting for? Get to searching! Everyone needs a lucky rabbit of their own!
