Before you jump to conclusions, this is indeed a toy and not a cellphone. It would be rather cool to have a cell phone like this, though. It took a little digging but I found out where this little guy is from. This is a Japanese TV drama called K-Tai Investigator 7, which premiered last year. I guess it was pretty successful because there's going to be a second season this May. The most interesting thing I found out about this is that Production I.G. was part of the production.

It's hard to even explain to you what the series is even about so go ahead and read about it here. Phone Braver 7 helps out a high school student in finding criminals to bring them to justice. These little robots transform into a cell phone so that they can hide the fact that they are a robot.

Chogokin GE-46 Phone Braver 7 is made out of ABS and diecast. He was just recently released in Japan and is going for  12,000 yen. He's a bit pricey but he runs on battery. He seems to speak dialogue, as well has changing facial expressions on the screen. He's available for purchase over at HobbySearch. Time to go investigate about this drama!
