Welcome to the article that has diabolical plans to pillage your savings, Go For Broke!
In a hopefully positive trend of continuous posts, I'll be focusing on Disgaea, the wonderfully addictive strategy RPG that will suck hundreds of hours out of your life. If you have any sort of obsessive compulsive tendencies, you'll be stuck for weeks grinding to level 9999 (not a typo) and diving into the Item World, where every single item in the game can be turned into a randomly generated dungeon dozens of floors deep.
The series is also known for its silly story lines that lampoon anime and video game cliches left and right. The writing is also top notch, consistently leaving the player laughing at the characters lines and actions.

Prinny Plushie

First up is everybody's favorite explosive, murderous penguins, the Prinnies! Made from the souls of the corrupted and unworthy, the Prinnies are forced to live a hard life of all work and little play, much to their chagrin. There are several different types of Prinny plushes available: the standard blue prinny shown above, a green prinny (who is actually a character from Disgaea 1), a pink prinny (also known as Big Sis Prinny), and a smaller prinny with a red scarf from the new PSP game Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? Check the gallery for photos of the other prinnies.
Release Date: Oddly enough, I can't find a release date for this plushie, though I've seen them around for at least four years.
Is it available? They're difficult to find online outside of Rosen Queen, a shop that tends to sell a lot of NIS and Atlus merch. At cons though, you should have no problem finding any of the prinnies.
Price: $20 is the average for one of this babies, though the Red Scarf Prinny is small and therefore only $15.

Solid Works Collection DX Makai Senki Disgaea

Next up is a set of trading figures featuring several of the jobs you can use in the first Disgaea game, as well as Flonne and Etna. If I recall correctly, most jobs have a male and a female form, making it quite easy to sell a few figure sets. I have no problem with that, since I'm quite fond of the character design and wouldn't mind have little 3D versions of them on my desk and shelf.
Company: Beat
Release Date: January 2008
Is it available? I was only able to find one place online that had them in stock. They are readily available on eBay, but I don't suggest shopping there based off my own negative experiences, as well as the horror stories of others. Either order it here or wait for a con.
Price: The set will run you about $72, so expect cons to price them individually at $8 to $10.
Available @ Hobby Link Japan
1/7 Etna PVC

(Photo from Happy Soda)
Ah Etna, how delicious you look. A demon with looks and rage to spare, Etna is in all three Disgaea games, being a major character in two of them. She is the one who puts the fear of hell into the Prinnies, ordering them to do her dangerous work for her with varied success. The statue featured here is a mass-produced version of a resin kit designed by Bubba, an amazing sculptor who's known for his Bunny Girl Haruhi and Space Girl Yuki kits. Considering the quality of the original sculpt, it's no surprise that the mass-produced version looks just as amazing. Considering that it's nearly three years old at this point, it is quite hard to find. However, if you can find, it's definitely worth a spot on your shelf.
Is it available? I can only find one place at Amazon that has it and that's it. She's been sold out for ages. I also haven't seen her at a con for awhile, but hey, you never know. It's still worth a shot.
Price: The only place that has it online has it at $90. Expect the price to be in the triple digits if you can find her elsewhere, though may get lucky at a con if the dealer doesn't know the gem on their hands.
Available @ Amazon
1/8 Flonne PVC

(Photo from Happy Soda)
Flonne, the Angel Trainee sent to assassinate a king and utterly failed, is represented quite faithfully here by Kotobukiya. What I really like about this figure is how the painter and sculpture managed to catch the inherent joy that is Flonne. The main character of Disgaea 1 calls her a 'Love Freak', and you can see with this figure she is indeed full of love. My only complaint is that I was never able to find her at a con even after she came out, as most places sold her pretty damn quick. What the hell man! I needed me a cute angel on my desk!
Is it available? I haven't seen her in stock since she came out AND I've never seen her at a con. I guess people really love Flonne.
Price: She should be around the $40 range, but expect the usual aftermarket bump up.
Available NOWHERE!
Disgaea 2: Rozalin PVC

Finally, I bring to you a deliciously busty lady known as Rozalin, the daughter of Overlord Zenon. She acts as the female lead of Disgaea 2, partnering with Adell on his quest for vengeance. Besides that nugget of info, I have no clue about her, other than the fact she has a great design and I like how her dress flows. I'd pick her up solely on how well she's painted and sculpted.
Company: Griffon Enterprises
Release Date: September 2008
Is it available? She's available at quite a few places.
Price: $40 - $87. Pick her up from HLJ, since that $40 price tag is a clearance special!
Available @ Rosen Queen Toys Logic Kid Nemo Power Anime Amazon Hobby Link Japan
That's it for this week. Have a broke one!
And this article is missing One Coin's trading figures!! And there's another Trading figure series for both Disgaea 1 and 2, but I can't remember which company is...
