On this day, February 7, 2009, the future was supposed to begin. For it was foretold in the days of my youth, that this would be the launch day of the massive spacecraft, the SDF-1 Macross. Instead, we have an aging shuttle fleet and no UN Spacy. (There's still time Obama, you have until midnight!)
To commemorate the future that isn't, here is an impressive 1/5000 scale SDF-1 Macross. Made by Wave back in 2007, this version of the massive culture ship, comes in at just over 9 inches long. The figure is made of diecast metal and plastic and is able to transform into its robot mode. However, this figure will set you back quite a bit, as it comes in at a whopping 14,800 yen. While the future may not have started today, you can pretend it did.
