Fake figures
by Xelotath on 11/30/2008 10 comments

I was looking at my Nendoroids and noticed something. L and Light had a shinier skin compared to others, so I checked online to see if they are fakes. I found the following guide : Fake L guide.

Now I'm pissed that I didn't notice this sooner. I got them off ebay for a normal price and the seller was from japan so I tought it was ok. The quality is still ok for fakes since I didn't notice at first but when looking at the real thing there is really a difference. Now I'll be really careful if I buy other figures on ebay.

Did this happen to any of you?

I bought fakes deliverately...they were the 3 bunnies from Haruhi...rare rare.AND CHEAP CHEAP! And you usually notice it because in the base is written made in china and not the company name. Also another diference is de holografic stickie from the newer nendos.Including the overwheight of the head xD
There are only few models of nendo-replicas:
L
Light Yagami
Misa Amane
Ryuk
Al Alif from Ex mechina
Miku Hatsune from vocaloid
Suzumiya
Mikuru
3 Suzumiya bunnies

These are the replicas I notice.

It does look extremely good though, unlike some other fakes >

I think you are right, about Light at least - I have the official Good Smile version and his face is more matte. They still look pretty good, but yeah... I hate the feeling that you think you got something awesome and then realize its fake. :(

Hm... yeah I was considering buying some Nendoroids off of ebay but it was too hard to tell which ones were real and which ones were fake :/ I was almost going to buy a Hatsune Miku nendoroid for cheap but I figured it was fake since it was only about $20 shipped and the seller was from Hong Kong.
Excalibur!

hong kong = fake ;p

your far better off getting something off someone in the states (though thats no guarantee, hong kong is guaranteed fake though :P)

Hong Kong isn't fake always...one of my favorite ebay sellers is from Hong Kong and he pre-order me tons of things at minimum price. And I didn't got any fake 1/8 figurine.
But Hong Kong seller + low prize = Fake nendoroid/Clare from Claymore or another fake figure.

There should be a Nendoroid trading board somewhere. It would make it so much easier for fans of them to get the ones they want.

I've bought many figures from ebay. There's one ebayer i buy that's from Japan but he kinda over charges for wonderfest figures. I know I'm getting the real thing because I don't think there's a big print run for these in HK or China. It's always hard to tell until you get the real figures in your hands :(

@ Yuna no they're not always fake, but your better off not trusting any seller from hong kong tbh :| Most of them are fake, even a good amount of the full priced ones are fakes.
