Assembling the Marvel Legends Avengers!
by Joshua Hayes on 02/19/2010 3 comments

A few years ago a nephew of mine got a chase variant two pack of Daredevil figures. For some reason, he likes Daredevil. I know, that Ben Affleck movie wasn't that great, but it meant something to him. He got a two pack of the Kingpin and Daredevil and I was amazed at how flexible these toys were. Compared to the crappy ones I had as a kid anyway.

Of course, these were Marvel Legends toys. If only I had these as a kid! Toys so flexible and pose able, to what I had as the movable shoulders and legs, and very rarely a turn able head, these things are amazing! I made a big deal about them a few years ago and someone gave me a chase variant Captain America with Hyrda's leader. I've had the goal for years to build the Avengers and now, now I've finally decided to do that.

Hit continue reading to see what my quest requires!

The basic Avengers are all I need. Just to help you out, I put a brief summary of whose who.

A robot with powers of intangibility. Vision died in Avengers Disassembled. Again, he's a robot. Robots can die in comic books. These things happen.

b

Iron Man: a man in a robot suit. He has lots of robot suits.

Captain America's got the power of patriotism! He often points out what his A stands for. Without a doubt, this is the worst face I've ever seen on a figure. Not just because of the image quality, which hopefully I can find a better one of before this goes to publishing, but because its just genuinely horrifying to look at. I've seen rape victims who look less battered, (and with even less lipstick on).

Hawkeye has a bow and arrows. What good are bow and arrows against intergalactic time traveling beings? Plenty, I guess. Am I wrong or is the figure crosseyed? Surely they realize an archer with crossed eyes isn't going to work out.

as

Thor, a Norse god. Has a hammer. Has something to do with the weather.

The Hulk. Guy gets angry, becomes monster. This figure wasn't based on actor Benico De Toro, but certainly looks like him. Just not as angry.

 h

Spider-Woman is kind of like Spider-Man, but with a vagina. Normally she doesn't stand bowlegged like this action figure does, honest!

sss

Quicksilver - Not the Flash.  He's quick, like silver? Not quick like a flash.

qs

Scarlet Witch is, in fact, a witch. She wears scarlet colors and has a nifty matching scooter.

On second thought, if I'm going to assemble the Avengers I might just buy individual statues of everyone. But then they wouldn't look as goofy all huddled together like the figures would.

What do you think, humble Tomopop readers?
