Musashiya releases another Martian Successor Nadesico Hoshino Ruri figure
by Jonathan Tubbs on 01/19/2010 3 comments

I have to wonder if Musashiya is taking a page out of Taki Corproation's book. Not because they also release awful Ikkitousen figures but because this is their twelfth release of Martian Successor Nadesico's Hoshino Ruri in the span of 22 months. They have just announced that they will be releasing the 1/5 scale Hoshino Ruri School Uniform 2010 ver. pre-painted cold cast garage kit. "2010 ver." meaning they have plans to milk a different pose next year.

I'm not too fond of the sculptors of Musashiya. Their figures have come off uninspiring and poorly designed. Ruri is no exception. Her pose comes off very stiff and unnatural. The shape of her face and how far apart her eyes are really bothers me. One could blame it on the original art style but it's different. Just as creepy but different. It's hard to judge the school uniform due to the poor photos taken by them. I had to enhance these because they were so dark.

I get this feeling they are a small company trying to appeal to easy target audiences: people who like women with big breasts and people who like lolis with little to no breasts. I guess it's working as they have been in the figure business for nearly two years. Ruri will retail for 17,800 yen and will be available in April.
