Legendary collections: Max Watanabe's Oh My Goddess statue
by Colette Bennett on 07/29/2008 3 comments

I just spent the weekend gasping over beautiful figures and statues at San Diego Comic Con, but nothing I saw anime-wise can even hold a candle to this. Spied by the ever-observant Danny Choo at the Good Smile offices,  this tremendous statue belongs to Max Watanabe, the man behind Max Factory. Talk about leaving you speechless .... wow.

Danny has the full range of pics posted in his Flickr, which I highly encourage you go see, as the few pics I added in the gallery here hardly begin to do this statue justice. While I was unable to confirm solid details, it does seem that the piece is made by Volks, limited to 3000 pieces worldwide and may have cost anywhere between 250 and 900 US dollars when it was available (it was sold quite a while ago).

Looking at these pictures got me thinking about my own holy grail figure, the Seyada Tara PVC. I've gotten close to buying her, but in the end I talked myself out of it. Would you actually go to whatever lengths necessary to buy the toy of your dreams and if so, what about that piece would motivate you to do so?
