Kotobukiya's 1/72 White Glint and Vanguard Overdo Booster
by Andres Cerrato on 04/22/2009 2 comments

Last year, Armored Core For Answer was one of my most wanted games.  It had sold me on only one visual, the White Glint launching with the Vanguard Overdo Booster.  When a helicopter has to lift your rifle, it can only be awesome.  The second I saw it, I wanted a kit of it.  Thankfully, Kotobukiya will be releasing it next month.  However, I felt somewhat disappointed as it didn't get the V.O.B. as was featured in the game.  Thankfully, my dream has been realized as this summer will see the release of the Vanguard Overed Booster.

The Vanguard Overdo Booster is going to be an independent kit release, so you'll already need to have another 1/72 Variable Infinity Armored Core kit in order to fully appreciate it, though I'm not sure if it will be fully compatible wth every kit.  Personal tastes though would have me recommend solely the White Glint.  The Vanguard Overdo Booster features 13 tubed-thrusters, allowing units to quickly speed across the polluted deserts showcased AC:FA.  The release of the VOB will come with a stand as the piece would make any self-standing kit fall over backwards due to the weight.  I do wish though that they would mimic the opening a bit more by also including a stand simulating the launch scene.  It would be an awesome feature to get a launch pad with mechanized opening gates.

The VOB will be released this August, retailing in at 2800 yen.  You can currently preorder at Hobby Search and HLJ, both of whom are currently offering preorder discounts.  The White Glint is also available for preorder with a May release date for the price of 6800 yen.
