When it comes to custom action figures Sillof is one man who rises above when it comes to making toys that are extraordinarily unique. In the past it was his Victorian Avengers and now he's let loose more spectacular Victorian era figures. This time choosing to depict Doctor Reed Richards, Madam Susan Richards, Jonathan Storm Esquire, and Thing of the Fantastical Four as well as The Invisible Man, Mr. Hyde, Mina Harker, Allan Quartermain, and Captain Nemo of the League of Extraordinary gentlemen
If you want to keep an eye on new pieces of his spectacular work you can stop by his Deviant Art portfolio for regular updates, and if you are interested in owning any of his pieces he regularly sells his figures though eBay.
Cris Rose is always working on cool new stuff, and his new custom is nothing short of exciting. And this time, you can get in on the action rather easily. For the next week, Cris is taking preorders for his new Ice Blue Mk. 1 custom piece, with each priced at US$100 plus shipping and handling. It's an awesome looking little piece, especially with all of the small custom pieces he uses in his work. On top of that, he's also releasing a chase for his Clear Vision Mk2 that will be distributed randomly throughout all the orders. Very cool indeed.
If you're interested in pre-ordering one of these, all you have to do is to e-mail Cris and let him know you'd like one. However, there's no telling just how many he's going to make, so the quicker you act, the more likely you are to nab one of these little guys. I'm very much contemplating doing it myself!
Lunabee has done manycustoms, but so far, this Professor Chocolat & Truffles, is by far my favorite. The concept of a chocolate bird is a great idea and Professor Chocolat looks like he really has a sweet tooth. The incorporation of candy designs and flowing chocolate onto these figures makes them look good enough to eat!
Using a Kathie Olivas Benny and Redbird platform, Lunabee has added her own unique style and an awesome back story to these figures to give them new life; one that is quite delicious! Sadly, these little guys are not for sale, but check out the gallery to see Professor Chocolat and his magnificent companion, the chocolate bird, Truffles!
When I went to the custom Cranston show a few weeks back, I never expected to leave with one of the pieces. And it turns out I was right, because I had to wait a month to pick mine up. Every time I saw Leecifer's Hellcat Cranston's impish little face at myplasticheart, it dove me crazy. I wanted to take him home! Well, that day finally came, and I thought I would share with all of you the awesomeness that is this figure.
So what are you waiting for? Hit the jump to see this crazy Hellcat in action!
I may not be too keen on most of Hasbro's My Little Pony designs these days, but the abundance of cheap ponies available means that creatively inclined MLP fans have a nigh-infinite canvas to work with. Because of the sheer amount of MLP customs floating around, due to the monkeys-on-typewriters principle eventually we will see an MLP version of everything under the sun. So I guess it's only natural that someone customized a pony as a homage to the Degás painting The Ballet Rehearsal; Natural, but it's still kind of blowing my mind.
To be frank, the pony itself doesn't look that fantastic; it's hard to copy a painting at the scale of a toy pony's hiney. However, the idea just appeals to me so much that execution is secondary. The seller also has customs based on Magritte's Son of Man, Lichtenstein's In the Car, and of course, Van Gogh's Sunflowers. Yes, today is a good day to be the My Little Pony Correspondent.
Artist Allen Wen's been working on a custom MADL in honor of the Chinese New Year, and he's finally ready to show it off to the world. His Year of the Tiger MADL is really a sight to behold, especially when you look at the matching print for the piece. It's literally like Allen took the print and wrapped it around the MADL because the detail he's included on his custom piece is truly staggering.
It would look nice in your collection, wouldn't it? Well, you've got a chance to own it: Allen's putting the piece up for sale Thursday, Feb. 4 and 11 a.m. Eastern in his online store. No price has been determined (don't let that US$1 tag on there now fool you: it's just a placeholder), but get there early and make sure your mouse is ready to go, because this is going to go fast. You might even be going up against a few of Tomopop's own, namely a certain few who love anything tiger-related. Like the guy who's post you just read.
Towards the end of last year Kidrobot released their newest DIY toys with Munnyworld including Rooz, Trikky, Bub and Raffy. Rooz was the first of my new custom endeavors with these new Munnyworld figures, so I used it to create my version of Kanga and Roo from Disney's Winnie the Pooh.

Doktor A has released many editions of the Stefan LePodd figure, but this one is special. The dok himself has decided to make 20 customs of this figure, each of which is hand-painted and looks to have steel additions as well. Painted in black and purple, this little guy is ready for a funeral, and while the occasion may be sad, he's definitely dressed to impress and looks great. Each figure is also signed by Dok A himself on the underside and keep a look out for a special one-off squinty-eyed edition! Look for these to be released soon for about $70 each on Spookypop where you'll be the one mourning if you miss out on this amazing release!
Yes. These are Battletoads and you know what, they deserve some respect. When I was growing up, these toads were the stars of one of the greatest beat-em ups of all time. Nowadays however, these aggressive amphibians are little more than a punchline and it's got me seeing red.
Luckily, thanks to these custom figures by G-Brand of FigureRealm, I'm back to seeing a lovely shade of toad green. Made mostly from wrestling figures Rash, Zitz, and Pimple are perfect representations of their video game counterparts, full of the extreme early 90's flavor that made them so popular in the first place. Seriously, look at Rash. With those sunglasses and fingerless gloves, he's only a leather jacket away from being in a hair metal band.
Rare, if you are listening, please make a new Battletoads game. In this time of turmoil its what America needs right now. Plus, I really like punching pigs in the face.
It's not every day I can write an article about a custom and say it holds a special place in my heart, and mean that with the most to my ability. Just mere moments ago I received photos of what was to be my very first look at Aki.
I went to Troy Stith with a commission, actually my first one ever to be exact, and gave small thoughts on what I wanted it to turn out like. What I ended up with was so much more. I really wanted something that reminded me of fall, with the leaves changing and the grass starting to brown, as fall is my favorite time of year. Not only did he get that point across remarkably, but this is the most beautiful piece I could have ever asked for.
To think that this great of a piece could come out of a small little Dunny is just breath taking. What are you waiting for? He's always up for commissions so check out his blog and go commission him right now!
