A new episode of Tomocast two months in a row? Yeah, we're already rocking our New Year's Resolution! This month, our focus was primarily on all of the fun and excitement springing from Comiket 77. Join Colette, Topher, Pedro, me, and making his feature podcast debut, Managing Editor Jonathan Tubbs.
You can download Episode 7 here (if you're not already subscribing to us on iTunes (hopefully you've reviewed us positively). Hit the jump for a rundown of topics as well as the Little Golden Book of links, so that you can follow along with pictures of the toys we're discussing.
We're gonna talk about Comiket77 tonight, folks. What do you think of that? I'll be joined on the podcast this evening by fellow Tomo writers Topher Cantler, Jonathan Tubbs, Jason Milward and Pedro Cortes as we discuss what figures we really want, what figures we kind of want, and what figures we're just plain tired of seeing.
If you'd like, contribute your questions below you'd like us to answer tonight, Comiket-related or otherwise. We'll also discuss preorders and upcoming releases, what toys we've just gotten, and possibly what type of waffles Topher is in the mood for these days. And then when we're finished recording, we'll play with our toys while eating said waffles. Is it me, or is this a good life?
There's a snob for every type of thing you can imagine -- wine snobs, food snobs, car snobs, and of course, even toy snobs. They're hard to miss if you know what to look for, and we had such a laugh about them on last night's Tomocast that Topher even invented our own: Name Naim, who you can get a look at above courtesy of Jason Milward's art skills.
We chatted about everything from said toy snobs to dollfies, ugly prize figures and our brand new feature, the Monthly Megapixel, which allows you to get your toy photos on the front page of the site for all to see! We also took our reader questions from Twitter instead of making a post, so if you want to submit yours for next time, follow us on our Twitter page and be around when we make the call for questions.
To download the podcast, click here or subscribe to us on iTunes. Sorry it's so late -- we promise to be on time next month! If you'd like an outline with links so you can see every toy we talk about, you can find it after the jump. Enjoy!
I have to apologize to all of you for making you wait an extra month for the fifth episode of Tomocast, but as you know, I was a little busy last month with the whole going to Tokyo thing. However, as soon as I got home and recovered from jet lag, we whipped up an episode for you. I'm joined by Topher Cantler, Pedro Cortes and Jason Milward this week as we discuss all things collectible.
As always, you can hit the jump to check out an outline with helpful links of everything we discussed this episode. Go here to download the new episode. Our central topic this week was how we collect: what type of toys we like best, what companies we're into, and what we think of completist collecting. Be sure to share your own thoughts on it with us after the jump!
Last but not least, now that we've reached 5 episodes, you should be able to find the podcast on iTunes very soon. We'll keep you updated as soon as that goes live, but you don't have much longer to wait!
Hey all you Tomocast fans -- I'd like to apologize for the lateness of this month's show. Unfortunately, we have to ask you to wait just a bit longer for episode 5. Due to staff scheduling conflicts and my trip to Japan for Tokyo Game Show next week, we just couldn't quite slap one together this month. However, as soon as I get home we will record episode 5 -- and I will return with many stories of my adventures!
In the meantime, if you have anything you'd like us to talk about when we do record episode 5, please don't hesitate to ask in the comments below. We'll make a proper comments post when we are about to record as well, but feel free to tell us now what you'd like to hear about too!
A big thanks to everyone who submitted questions last night for our fourth episode of Tomocast! As promised, Topher, Pedro, Eva and I rambled on incessantly about Wonder Festival and all the toys we wanted to rub on our nude bodies. We also talked about a small handful of preorders and new releases and answered some questions.
We talk about a TON of figures in this episode, so as usual hit the jump for the handy-dandy outline guide so you can see everything we are talking about at a click in case you missed it when it was news on the homepage. You know the drill: click here to listen to the podcast (click "file" and "save page as" to save it) and let us know your comments, feedback and requests for future episode topics down below!
Tonight Topher, Pedro, Eva and I will be on hand to discuss this exciting event as well as the best recent releases and of course, your questions. Ask away below and we'll answer our favorites. By the way, for those of you that are wondering, we only have one more episode to go and then you will be able to find us on iTunes. Thanks for being patient with us -- we're almost there!
Here's episode three ... and a quick apology to all of you -- this podcast should have been out a few weeks ago, so I'm sorry we are late! This week Topher, Brian and Brad joined me to chat about what's going on in the world of toys. Our main topic this week was market saturation, with figures of characters such as Hatsune Miku, Yoko and Kanu Unchou as our guilty parties. Are any of you sick of seeing one after another of these characters hit the PVC market?
You can download the podcast here, and if you'd like a guide to what we're talking about, hit the jump to check out our super duper deluxe outline (complete with links to all the toys!). Thanks for listening and make sure to pelt us with your comments!
I apologize for being a little late on this month's Tomocast -- it was actually supposed to go up last week, but life got in the way. Which is unnacceptable, as nothing should ever stand in the way of toys!
In case you're wondering what this whole Tomocast thing is all about, you can catch episodes one and two to get up to speed. Topher and I will be joined by Features editors Brian Szabelski and Associate Editor Brad Rice as we chat about what's going on in the world of collectibles.
This week, the hot topic at hand is market saturation. With the announcement of a brand new Max Factory Miku that looks suspiciously like the earlier Volks version and enough Kanu Unchou figures to choke a small horse, we can't help but wonder why we are still waiting for other types of figures while there are way too many of certain characters.
You might have some thoughts on this too, we realize, so put your questions in the comments below and we'll discuss them on the air. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Episode two of Tomocast is here! In this episode, I'm joined by Tomopop editors Bryan Coffee, Rio McCarthy and Topher Cantler as we chat about all things collectible. Per your feedback from episode one, we have included a full link guide after the jump that you can use as you listen if you aren't instantly familiar with each figure we discuss during the show. Isn't that handy?
We hope you guys enjoy it and, as always, we like to hear your feedback. You can download the show here or listen to the streaming version below (coming soon!). Hit the comments and tell us what you love, what you could do without, and why you think all podcasts are better off when its hosts aren't wearing any pants.
Collectible toys, vinyl, vintage, papercraft, oddities, and more: Tomopop is a place where people of all ages can all enjoy our inability to grow up when it comes to our toy collections! If you're new to Tomopop check out a note from our editor.
