Over at Japanator, we're big fans of Katawa Shoujo, the dating sim from the folks at Four Leaf Studios, and are eagerly anticipating a full release of the game. It was my first adventure into the world of dating sims, and I really want to give it a shot once again in the near future.
Colette, knowing of all the strange things I love, sent me a link to these cute little custom figures of the girls from Katawa Shoujo. Made out of resin clay, the artist Ryu-yo went ahead and tackled all of the girls from the game. Sadly, they're not going up for sale or anything like that anytime soon, but maybe in the future, said ryu.
Now, if only the game took off in Japan, and they started making professional figures...oh how I would buy them up! Of course, it'd be just as hard to explain why I own figures of crippled girls as some of the otherfigures that'd be in my collection.
Nothing, really. Maybe the Lance of Logenus, for good measure. Over on the figure site FG (login required), a user named Pantheon2 put together an amazing Vispo Rei Ayanami kit.
Rei is ready for some fun in the sun, as she comes in both the tanning bikini and a more modest swimwear outfit to take with her as she speeds along the highway in her painfully decal'd bike. Still, despite the garishness of the figure, Rei is looking pretty awesome here.
What grabs me most about Pantheon's job here are the strong and deep colors he used on the figure really gives it a polished look. I'd love to see this thing in person. Alas, I'll have to stick with just checking out the shots of the figure that we've got waiting for you down after the jump.
Welcome, faithful readers, to Tomopop's one and only top figures column, letting you know what's hot in Japan this very minute. I bet your blood is boiling with excitement to see what's on the list, aren't you? What new and amazing figures are people buying in Japan that we might be missing out on?
Well, it's pretty much all Fate/Stay Night and Nanoha figures. Not that you should be surprised or anything like that, this being Japan and all.
In an effort to pick something new and different, I went with Mizuki from Baka to Test, one of this season's new anime series that has the staff over at Japanator really digging it. I haven't taken the plunge myself, but that's the next show I plan to tackle. What's on your figure list this week, Tomopoppers?
Welcome, readers, to the most frequent top ten list here on Tomopop: Rock the Charts! This week, we've got a... lot more Nanoha on the list. Several figures are coming up on their releases real soon, and so people are in a mad dash to secure their orders from them. Hopefully once this is all over, we'll see them drop off for good!
I can't wait to see more of the K-ON! figures hitting the charts. I need more moe with girls that have at least hit puberty.
Any time Black Rock Shooter makes it onto the charts, you know it's going to be our selection. Now that it's out of the way, what's on your chart this week, Tomopoppers?
Welcome once again, dear readers, to the greatest show on earth: the Japanese figure charts. This week, we've got a wide array of figures for you all to enjoy, from K-ON! to Urusei Yatsura and even some HoiHoi-san! What's nice, too, is that there's only a single Nanoha figure on the charts. I guess the year is starting off right, now isn't it?
This week I went with Penguin Parade's Soso figure (#10) because it just looks so jaw-droppingly beautiful. What excites me about the figure so much is her color palette -- it's a vibrant collection of light and dark, and that sort of high contrast just makes me happy.
So, what's rocking your charts this week, Tomopoppers?
For just about anyone here on staff, picking a gift is a hard venture. I really try to put a lot of thought into my gifts, going by what people like, their opinions, and some little tidbit I've picked up on and made a mental note of. Since Brian sprung this project on us at the beginning of December, I hadn't been taking any notes and was actually unprepared. Thanks, Brian.
But, I had a trick up my sleeve! This month, I've been working with the staff at Japanator to come up with our top anime of the decade list, and since Pedro is part of the team there, I was able to mine his top ten list for the perfect figure.
While I was (sadly) unable to find any figures of Peppo from Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, I went with one of Pedro's other top choices. See what I mean after the jump.
Welcome once again, faithful readers, to this edition of Rock the Charts. Interestingly, we only have one new figure this week, but boy is it a doozy. I've never seen a figure that's got a reserve date so far out as Hatsune Miku (#2) and for such a high price score a slot like this.
I have a feeling she's going to be on the charts for weeks to come, at this rate. Japan takes its Vocaloid very seriously. Otherwise, the Christmas season has slowed down Japan's top chart figures, with a lot of soon-to-be released figures taking up the slots.
This week I went with Miku because, well, there's never enough Miku. She's drop-dead gorgeous, and I know I'll never have her. So what's on your chart list this week, readers?
Wait, what? Eight out of the ten items this week are new? This is unprecedented in the history of Rock the Charts! This week, I actually had to do some work, and I'm glad to report that pretty much none of it involved Nanoha. Instead, the Puchi Nendoroids took over this week's charts.
This week, I went with the Bakemonogatari set, because I know you people can't get enough of it. I'm surprised at the sudden appearance of all those nendoroids, but I guess it's all good. What's on your list this week, Tomopoppers?
Welcome readers, to another edition of Rock the Charts. This week, we've got quite a few new items for you to check out. Surprisingly, we're seeing Nanoha figures start to die off as a few new items from Macross Frontier come in to take their place.
You know, with Tamaki Kousaka, I find it almost impossible to keep track of all the different versions. I feel bad for those fans who try to collect all the figures of her.
I just love the Kodomo no Jikan nendoroids so much, even though I haven't watched or read the series yet, so that's why Mimi Usa was my choice this week. I suppose it's the fact that their style and emotion of the nendoroids fits perfectly with the characters' personalities, so that's why I'm in love with them. What's on your chart this week, Tomopoppers?
Welcome, faithful readers, to the latest edition of Rock the Charts -- the only column that lets you in on the secrets of Japan's buying habits. This week we're seeing a lot of new figures on the charts, which was a bit of a surprise. Surprisingly, not many new Nanoha figures on the charts!
This week I went with #5, Corticarte, mainly because her name is over the top. The figure looks nice, too, but I don't think I can drop 7,000 yen on a well-dressed loli when I've got that barely-clad Tsugumi figure still to buy. What's on your list this week, Tomopoppers?
