In my last post on Vladimir, I had said that this time of the year was more about cute than scary in the world of toys. Perhaps I was a bit premature in saying that, as Dave Bondi's Akashi terrifies me to no end, yet somehow, I am also interested.
Resembling the result of an experiment combining Mario and Mickey Mouse's DNA, Akashi is 9 inches of pure pop culture criss-crossing. The figure features a removable cap and a poseable head and arms. Distributed by DKE Toys, only 250 of these are being made, at $65 US a piece. There is also apparently evidence of a pink colorway of Akashi, though no announcement has been officially made on that yet. Regardless, Akashi is definitely one of those unique, conversation-starting pieces for any collection.
