Well, this is definitely a first for me in many ways, as I've never written up one of my own customs, and not only that but this is my first custom toy that will be leaving my house, let alone be in a worldwide art show! I was very honored to be a part of the Robolucha Custom Show, and have loved keeping everyone up to date with other artist's progress.
Hit the jump to learn what I did, what this version of the figure came out of, and what's going on with the show!

The story behind my figure is that he is a lucha wrestler named Mike who loves to wear neon colors to stand out from his fellow wrestlers. He also refuses to wrestle without his rhinestone glove that he wears in tribute to his greatest idol, Michael Jackson. He is dubbed the Neon Thriller, and if he can't beat you in the match, maybe he'll at least blind you with his bright colors.

The rhinestone glove was definitely one of the most painstaking parts of this custom, because I placed every single rhinestone on there by hand. I would go row by row putting small amounts of super glue down then using tweezers to place each individual rhinestone. There are around 200 rhinestones covering the whole of his glove, and at least the end product was worth it, but it was definitely frustrating nevertheless!

His other fist is decorated in flames for his Blazing Fist attack, granted punches aren't generally allowed in wrestling, but in the Robolucha league anything goes!

Now, he may just look like an average repaint, but I've added something special. Majority of the neon colors are actually glow in the dark so that it adds a little bit of extra fun and detail to the project. This custom actually originally started out in an entirely different way with cutting parts of the face off and adding Sculpey pieces, but unfortunately I couldn't make it sturdy enough for shipping so I scrapped that idea and went with the Neon Thriller idea instead.

To take the pictures I actually used a black light to bring out the glow in the dark colors, but in all honesty you can actually see a lot of it in person, sadly the camera could not. Though if you had a black light going on in your room at all times you could totally add an extra sense of awesome, if I do say so myself.

The Neon Thriller is going to be making his way to Luxembourg for the show starting on August 21st, and will be there until September 3rd before he moves about his tour of Europe. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend any of the events themselves, but I hope those who do get to attend take lots of pictures and share them with us! At the end of the show tour, if all goes as planned, the toys will be auctioned off for charity as well, but more information about that will be shared as it comes. Please feel free to c-blog your photos if you do attend the event, as I'd love to see them!
Cool glove, you shoulda covered more parts with those stones though and make the whole thing as sparkly as possible lol.
