I'm not huge into kit building right now, mostly because I don't have the time for it, but I know a lot of you Tomopop readers out there are. And if your kits of choice happen to be Gundam ones, well, now's your time to shine. To celebrate 30 years of Gundam, Bandai, Anime Festival Asia and Danny Choo are teaming up to present the first ever Bandai World Gunpla Competition.
Sure, there have been similar contests in the past, but they've mostly been for bragging rights. This is the first time I can remember an official competition ever coming directly from Bandai for Gunpla, and I'm glad to see them being a big part of this. Hit the jump to check out the full details of this awesome competition!
There will be four categories for the competition: coolest free-style Gunpla, cutest super-deformed (SD) Gundam, coolest Gundam diorama and most amusing Gunpla. According to Danny, the winners, which will be decided by an internal decision by the AFA committee, will receive "a hamper consisting of exclusive Gundam merchandise from Bandai." It's so exclusive, in fact, that Danny says they're still producing the merchandise and he can't yet reveal what it's going to be yet, other than it will definitely fit the term "exclusive".
Entering is pretty simple. All you have to do is be signed up at Danny's figure community, figure.fm, and post your photos into the correct category, following the naming instructions in the rules. Only Bandai Gunpla model kits are allowed entry into the competition, so don't even think of trying to dress up your EVA Suit 01 to win he contest. You can only enter one model into one category, too, but you can re-enter a different model if you change your mind. Whichever one you post last will be the one that's entered into the contest. Don't worry, you have until November 1st to get your entries in.
For more on the rules and specifications of the contest, or perhaps to see what others are already planning, head on over to figure.fm and the official rules page. Good luck, and let us know if you win!
bet saying that all the winners are japenese :P maybe they'll throw in a single other country in the 2-3rd place so it seems like its a world competition :P
